Soil conservation is about solving the problems of land degradation, particularly accelerated soil erosion. Accelerated soil erosion is a result of physical forces of wind and water on soil, which has become vulnerable, usually because of human interference with the natural environment. Soil erosion is a symptom of bad land use and management. Our demographics, population, building structures have changed and so has the uses of Mosholu Parklands. It's our opportunity to save the land and beautify our "new" community.

Conservation projects can only succeed if the land users are fully involved in the planning and implementation of schemes
Soil conservation is the combination of appropriate land use and management practices that promotes the productive and sustainable use of soils and, in the process, minimizes soil erosion and other forms of land degradation.
The way land is managed depends on the thousands of different people who use it and that little progress can be made unless the land users themselves are involved in the whole process of planning and implementing soil-conservation programs. You volunteering with us make a difference!
